TTSD is a provider of waste disposal services based in California. As such, TTSD operates residential and commercial trash collection services and offers container rentals for bigger projects.2 Various forms of recycling are also possible with TTSD, including buy-back recycling, composting, and disposing of classically difficult commodities such as batteries, oil, and hazardous materials.2 With locations in Truckee and Tahoe City, California, TTSD employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, TTSD reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 13, 2024, TTSD detected unauthorized activity in its computer system.1 As a result, TTSD launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, TTSD confirmed that sensitive personal information in its email environment may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, TTSD began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- State ID number
- Other government-issued identification numbers
On December 26, 2024, TTSD began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the California residents, TTSD is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 12 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
