Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Omni Family Health (“Omni”), regarding its recent data breach. The Omni data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.
ABOUT OMNI FAMILY HEALTH:
Omni is a network of community health centers based in California. Founded in 1978, Omni provides healthcare services throughout California’s Central Valley, in Kern, Kings, Tulare, and Fresno counties.3 Today, these services include a full range of primary, preventative care, and supportive services in medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and more.3 Headquartered in Bakersfield, California, Omni has over 40 locations throughout California and employs over 500 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Omni announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on August 7, 2024, Omni became aware of claims that information was taken from its systems and posted on the dark web.1 As a result, Omni launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Omni determined the data posted on the dark web belonged to current and former patients and employees.1 As a result, Omni began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
As a result of the data breach, Omni posted notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, in October 2024, Omni mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice posted to its website, Omni is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
