Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Bull Stockwell & Allen Architects (“BSA”) regarding its recent data breach. Founded in 1968, BSA has been at the forefront of resort, recreation, and hospitality design and planning since its inception.3 Today, BSA offers a variety of professional services including concepting, feasibility, and visualization, and is recognized as a leader in four-season hospitality and recreation design, with unique mountain resort qualifications.3 Headquartered in San Francisco, California, BSA has an additional location in Boston, Massachusetts, and employs over 20 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, BSA reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on January 22, 2024, BSA became aware of a cybersecurity incident that resulted in a network interruption. As a result, BSA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, BSA learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized actor during the incident. As a result, BSA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 11, 2024, BSA completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Spouse Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Contact information (e.g., phone number, email address)
- Driver’s license number
- Passport number
- EAD card number
- Tax information (w2)
- OPT information
- Paystub information
- Medical information
On August 2, 2024, BSA began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Massachusetts residents, BSA is providing affected individuals with complimentary credit monitoring services.
