Young Consulting Data Breach Investigation

Recently, Young Consulting reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on April 13, 2024, Young Consulting discovered technical difficulties on its computer network. As a result, Young Consulting launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Young Consulting learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized actor between April 10 and April 13, 2024. As a result, Young Consulting began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. During this review, Young Consulting discovered that data belonging to some of its covered entities, including Blue Sheild of California, may have been compromised during the data breach. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:  

• Name
• Social Security number
• Date of birth
• Insurance policy/claim information

On August 26, 2024, Young Consulting mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Young Consulting is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
