Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Pocahontas Medical Clinic, PA (“PMC”) regarding its recent data breach. The PMC data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 31,000 individuals.

PMC is a physician-owned medical group and community healthcare clinic based in Arkansas. Today, PMC offers it community a full array of services for all ages.2 The services provided by PMC include preventive visits, immunizations, physicals, and an extensive amount of lab and tests for its general practice such as x-rays, ultrasounds, eye exams, advanced lipid lab tests, genetic lab panels, and more.2 Headquartered in Pocahontas, Arkansas, PMC has two additional locations in Arkansas.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, PMC announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, PMC became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment. As a result, PMC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, PMC learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized actor on May 30, 2024. As a result, PMC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 1, 2024, PMC completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Contact information (e.g., phone number, email address)
- Medical information (e.g., medical record number, diagnosis/conditions, treatment information, medications)
- Health insurance information
On August 1, 2024, PMC posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, PMC plans to mail data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice on its website, PMC will be providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complementary credit monitoring services.
