Harborview is a dental and facial center based in Mississippi. Today, Harborview offers a variety oral surgeries to individuals, including emergency room coverage for facial injuries such as facial lacerations, intra oral lacerations, avulsed (knocked out) teeth, fractured facial bones (cheek, nose, eye socket), and fractured jaws (upper and lower jaw).2 Additionally, Harborview offers dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, Botox treatments, and facial fillers. Headquartered in Gulfport, Mississippi, Harborview has one location.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Harborview discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. On August 8, 2024, Harborview filed official notice of the data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights. Though much information is still not known about the Harborview breach, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ reporting guidelines require entities to report data breaches when they involve protected health information. Therefore, it is likely that the Harborview breach included the protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals. As a result of the data breach, Harborview may soon begin notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
