Headquartered in Hornell, New York, Maple City has two additional locations in New York.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Maple City reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, after detecting suspicious activity within its email environment Maple City launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Maple City learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor between April 12 and April 23, 2024. As a result, Maple City began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On August 7, 2024, Maple City completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account number
On August 16, 2024, Maple City began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Maple City is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
