Futurity First Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Futurity First Insurance Group, LLC (“Futurity First”) regarding its recent data breach. The Futurity First data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT FUTURITY FIRST INSURANCE GROUP, LLC:

Futurity First is an insurance and financial advisement company based in Connecticut. Founded in 2008, Futurity First is a nationwide network of wealth advisors, investment specialists, and financial representatives specializing in the financial security and income planning needs of seniors, pre-retirees, families and businesses.2 Offering online, over the phone, and in-person consultation, Futurity First has independent, licensed advisors in every state. Since its establishment Futurity First has joined forces with Senior Market Sales and Alliant Insurance Services to expand its portfolio of insurance products to better serve its clients.3 Headquartered in Middletown, Connecticut, Futurity First has over 30 locations across the United States and employs over 500 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Futurity First reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Futurity First detected suspicious activity in its email environment on November 24, 2023. After launching an investigation to determine the nature of the incident, Futurity First learned that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information through three employee and six independent agent email accounts.

Through its investigation, Futurity First determined that sensitive data was compromised. Futurity First reviewed the compromised emails to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On May 23, 2024, Futurity First finalized this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes: 

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number 

 

On July 24, 2024, Futurity First began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the notices sent to Maine residents, the letters include a list of impacted information, along with complimentary credit monitoring services.
