Founded in 1895, York designs, manufactures, markets, sells and distributes its products in over 80 different countries.3 Today, York’s products include both residential and commercial wallpaper, borders, murals, peel & stick tiles, and a wide array of decorative peel & stick wall decals.3 Additionally, York is one of the only printing companies in the world to own and operate five different types of printing presses – from rare turn of the century presses to modern digital applications; each type giving a distinctive look to the finished product.4 Headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, York employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, York discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, York determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information on or about April 11, 2024. On July 19, 2024, York began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by York. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID number
  • Financial account number, or credit or debit card number, with or without any required security code, personal identification number or password
