WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, it was reported by online sources that Holstein had experienced a data breach impacting the privacy of its customers’ personal information. According to these sources, Holstein was subject to a ransomware attack in which extensive confidential data was accessed, including personal information of employees, clients, partners, and financial records.1 Additionally, as of May 16, 2024, Holstein released a statement on its website saying, “We’re experiencing a computer system outage which affects the Holstein Association USA website, email, and EASY ID program. Our team is working diligently to resolve the issue and restore service as soon as possible.”2 As of May 16, 2024, Holstein has not disclosed the specific nature of the cybersecurity incident or confirmed whether the incident resulted in a data breach.
