Strauss Borrelli PLLCa leading data breach law firm, is investigating Central Virginia Federal Credit Union (“CVFCU”) regarding its recent data breach. The CVFCU data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT CENTRAL VIRGINIA FEDERAL CREDIT UNION:

CVFCU is a community credit union based in Virginia. Today, CVFCU offers a variety of financial services and products to individuals, including checking and savings accounts, investment services, credit cards, and various loans. Additionally, CVFCU serves businesses, providing services such as checking accounts, business loans, and payroll and HR services. Headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia, CVFCU has locations throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In November 2023, CVFCU discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, CVFCU determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on November 29, 2023. As a result, CVFCU began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
