Strauss Borrelli PLLCa leading data breach law firm, is investigating Bridgeway Center, Inc. (“BCI”) regarding its recent data breach. The BCI data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 65,000 individuals.

ABOUT BRIDGEWAY CENTER, INC.:

BCI is a non-profit health and human services company based in Florida. Founded in 1966, BCI’s services are provided to those experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance abuse and addiction, behavioral problems, poor impulse control, and thoughts of harming oneself or others.2 Today, BCI’s multi-disciplinary team includes therapists, case managers, physician/nurse practitioners, and nurses.2 Headquartered in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, BCI has an additional location in Crestview, Florida, and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, BCI discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, BCI determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between February 21 and February 23, 2024. On May 8, 2024, BCI began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or military ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (e.g., therapist/doctor notes, mental or physical condition/treatment, diagnosis information, medical procedure information, date of service, medical record number, sickness certificate, prescription information)
