WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Monmouth College discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Monmouth College determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information via a ransomware incident that occurred in December 2022. On January 4, 2023, and March 4, 2024, Monmouth College notified individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Monmouth College. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
