Limestone Bank was a regional financial institution offering personal and business banking services. Accordingly, Limestone Bank’s offered consumers loans, mortgages, checking and savings accounts, online banking services, and other financial products. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Limestone Bank operated multiple branches and ATMs across Kentucky and southern Indiana. Founded in 1902, Limestone Bank is a subsidiary of Limestone Bancorp, Inc. On April 30, 2023, Limestone Bank was acquired by Peoples Bancorp Inc. and, in August 2023, Limestone Bank was rebranded as Peoples Bank.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Limestone Bank discovered it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Limestone Bank determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through an employee email account between November 21, 2022, and March 23,2023. On September 15, 2023, Limestone Bank began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
- Medical information
