Independent Living Systems currently serves over 4 million individuals through more than 30 clients. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Independent Living Systems employs approximately 800 individuals in 10 offices throughout the United States. In 2022, it was reported that Independent Living Systems was on track to generate annual revenue of $1 billion.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On July 5, 2022, Independent Livings Systems discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health in its systems may have been accessed and obtained. Through its investigation, Independent Living Systems determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and acquired this sensitive information between June 30 and July 5, 2022. Independent Living Systems posted a preliminary online notice of its data breach on September 2, 2022. On March 14, 2023, Independent Living Systems began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Address
- Health insurance information
- Medical information (e.g., medical record number, prescription information, food delivery information, diagnosis or treatment information)
