Highmark Health Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 15, 2022, Highmark Health discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Highmark Health determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between December 13 and December 15, 2022. On February 13, 2023, Highmark Health began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Health insurance information
  • Claims or treatment information
  • Contact information
  • Dates of service
  • Financial information
  • Group name
  • Prescription information
  • Procedures
