CITY Furniture Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1971, CITY Furniture began by selling waterbeds, a product that led the company’s growth throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Over time, CITY Furniture rebranded and expanded its product line beyond waterbeds and mattresses. Today, CITY Furniture offers free design services, customizable packages, and online shopping services. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, CITY Furniture employs over 1,000 individuals and operates stores across Florida.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 12, 2022, CITY Furniture discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, CITY Furniture determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between November 14, 2021, and June 12, 2022. On September 13, 2022, CITY Furniture began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
