Afni is an outsourcing and offshoring consulting company headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois. Afni provides channel strategies and customer lifecycle solutions to various companies. Included in Afni’s portfolio of customer lifecycle services are customer growth and acquisition, customer care and loyalty, consumer collections, and insurance subrogation solutions. Afni was originally founded in 1936 as a consumer collection agency. Today, Afni has a global network of operations centers in the United States and the Philippines and employs about 10,000 people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 7, 2022, Afni discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its system may have been accessed or acquired. Through its investigation, Afni determined that on or before June 7, 2021, an unauthorized actor gained access to Afni’s system and may have viewed or taken data from its system. Recently, Afni began notifying individuals impacted on the healthcare providers’ behalf. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Dates of birth
  • Address
