Craft Beer Company GP Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLCa leading data breach law firm, is investigating Craft Beer Company GP, and its subsidiaries Duvel Moortgat USA, Ltd., Boulevard Brewing Company, and Brewery Ommegang, Ltd. (collectively, “CBC”), regarding its recent data breach. The CBC data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 1,500 individuals.

ABOUT CRAFT BEER COMPANY GP AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES:

CBC is a craft beer group and the parent company of Duvel Moortgat Brewery, Boulevard Brewing Company, and Brewery Ommegang. Founded in 1871, Duvel Moortgat is headquartered in Puurs, Belgium, and has a network of breweries that offers over 22 brands of specialty beers, low/no-alcohol beers and other brews.2 Founded in 1989, Boulevard Brewing has grown to become the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest and produces fresh, flavorful beers using the finest ingredients and the best of both old and new brewing techniques.3 Finally, Brewery Ommegang is a Belgian brewery located near Cooperstown, New York that specializes in Belgian-style ales and now offers daily tours and tastings, plus a full calendar of special events.4

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 5, 2024, CBC discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, CBC determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between March 4 and March 14, 2024. On May 8, 2024, CBC began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Government issued ID number (e.g., Driver’s license number, passport number)
  • Bank account number
  • Health insurance information
