Parksite is a building materials company based in Illinois. Founded in 1971, Parksite distributes category-leading building construction products and specialty building materials to dealers and fabricators within the commercial construction, residential construction, and remodeling markets.2 Today, Parksite builds brands and develops solutions to transform the building industry.2 Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, Parksite has 21 additional locations and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Parksite discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Parksite determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between December 25, 2023, and January 16, 2024. On May 3, 2024, Parksite began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Parksite. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Taxpayer ID number
  • Passport number
  • Financial account or credit or debit card number
  • Password or access code for financial account
  • Unique biometric data
  • Genetic information
  • Medical information (e.g., health records, medical diagnosis or treatment information)
  • Health insurance policy number
