Senior PsychCare Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Psychological Holdings, PLLC d/b/a Senior PsychCare (“SPC”) regarding its recent data breach. The SPC data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 65,000 individuals.

ABOUT PSYCHOLOGICAL HOLDINGS, PLLC D/B/A SENIOR PSYCHCARE:

SPC is a mental health practice specializing in geriatric psychiatry based in Texas. Founded in 2000, SPC employs a unique collaborative care model to deliver advanced treatment for the emotional, social, and psychological well-being of seniors. Specific services offered by SPC include neuropsychological testing, management of psychotropic medications, advanced senior-specific telemedicine, and overall behavioral health services.4 Headquartered in Houston, Texas, SPC has two additional locations in Texas and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 20, 2023, SPC discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, SPC determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information between December 13 and December 22, 2022. On January 8, 2024, SPC began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or government ID number
  • Contact information (e.g., phone numbers, email addresses)
  • Financial account information
  • Passport number
  • Biometric data
  • Medical information (e.g., medical record/patient account number, medical diagnosis/treatment information, medical provider names)
  • Health insurance information
