WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 19, 2023, Wayne Bank learned that one of its third-party vendors had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information related to Wayne Bank customers may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, the third-party vendor determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in MOVEit Transfer, a file transfer software used by the vendor, between May 27 and May 31, 2023. Recently, Wayne Bank began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Wayne Bank. However, according to an article in The Scranton Times-Tribune,3 the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security number
  • Financial account number and routing number
