ABOUT FOUNDATION BUILDING MATERIALS, LLC:
FBM is a building materials and construction products distribution company based in California. Founded in 2011, FBM specializes in the local supply of building materials such as drywall, steel studs, laths, plaster, stucco, acoustical ceilings, insulation, fiberglass reinforced panels (FRP), and exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS). Additionally, FBM offers a wide variety of commercial-grade construction tools, drywall hand tools, fasteners, and construction supplies for residential and commercial projects.2 Headquartered in Santa Ana, California, FBM has over 300 branch locations across the United States and Canada and employs over 1,000 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On March 31, 2023, FBM completed an acquisition of Marjam Supply Company (“Marjam”). On December 7, 2023, during the process of integrating Marjam’s systems into FBM’s system, FBM became aware of a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information on Marjam’s network may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, FBM found evidence of unauthorized access to this sensitive information from May 1 and May 9, 2023. On January 19, 2024, FBM began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account number
