UFCW Local 342 Data Breach Investigation

ABOUT UFCW LOCAL 342:

UFCW is a food and commercial workers union based in New York. WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, UFCW reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about April 28, 2025, UFCW learned that an unauthorized individual gained access to its network.1 As a result, UFCW launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, UFCW confirmed that sensitive personal information in its network may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party between April 25 and April 28, 2025. As a result, UFCW began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:4

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial account information
  • Driver’s license information
  • Medical records

 

On March 9, 2026, UFCW began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, UFCW is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
