The Gladney Center of Adoption Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating the Gladney Center for Adoption (“Gladney Center”) regarding its recent data breach. The Gladney Center data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to over 3,600 individuals.

ABOUT THE GLADNEY CENTER FOR ADOPTION:

Gladney Center is a non-profit adoption center based in Texas. Founded in 1887, Gladney Center provides a range of adoption services for adoptive families and birth parents, including temporary care, adoption counseling, medical care, financial support, legal support, assistance with living arrangements, and more.2,3 Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Gladney Center employs over 50 individuals.3

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Gladney Center reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, in or about February 2025, Gladney Center experienced a security incident that impacted a portion of the network.1 As a result, Gladney Center launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

During its investigation, Gladney Center identified a separate security incident related to a third-party system vulnerability occurring in about April 2025 that impacted the same Gladney Center network section. Through the investigation, Gladney Center confirmed that sensitive personal information in its email accounts may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Gladney Center began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Email address and password
  • Passport number
  • Username and password
  • Medical information

On February 3, 2026, Gladney Center began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Gladney Center is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
