Sterling, Illinois, Dot employs over 4,000 individuals and operates 13 distribution centers in the U.S., as well as a corporate sales office in Missouri, two locations in Canada, and a joint venture in Mexico.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Dot reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on December 3, 2025, Dot identified suspicious activity involving a small number of email accounts.1 As a result, Dot launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Dot confirmed that sensitive personal information in the emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between December 3 and December 4, 2025. As a result, Dot began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
As a result of the breach, Dot began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals and posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Dot is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
