Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company Data Breach Investigation

Recently, Atlantic Coast Life announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 15, 2025, Atlantic Coast Life discovered suspicious network activity.¹ As a result, Atlantic Coast Life launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Atlantic Coast Life confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party between April 7 and April 15, 2025. As a result, Atlantic Coast Life began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On or about December 17, 2025, Atlantic Coast Life completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:^1,4

• Individual taxpayer identification number
• Financial account information
• Date of birth
• Medical information
• Treatment information
• Health insurance policy number
• Health insurance information

On December 23, 2025, Atlantic Coast Life posted notice of the breach on its website. Additionally, on December 30, 2025, Atlantic Coast Life began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
