Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Ellafi Federal Credit Union (“Ellafi”) regarding its recent data breach. The Ellafi data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 17,600 individuals.

Ellafi is a credit union based in Connecticut. Founded in 1935 and formerly known as Seasons Federal Credit Union, Ellafi provides a range of financial services to individuals and businesses, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages, business accounts, and more.2,3 Headquartered in Middletown, Connecticut, Ellafi employs over 50 individuals and operates two additional locations in Connecticut.3,4
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Ellafi reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on October 14, 2025, Ellafi experienced a network disruption.1 As a result, Ellafi launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Ellafi confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Ellafi began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Credit and/or debit card number
On December 23, 2025, Ellafi began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Ellafi is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
