WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, FBC Glenarden announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on or around October 31, 2024, FBC Glenarden detected suspicious activity related to its network.1 As a result, FBC Glenarden launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, FBC Glenarden confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between October 12 and October 28, 2024. As a result, FBC Glenarden began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Username and password
- Passport number
- Driver’s license or state ID
- Payment card information
- Biometric data
- Taxpayer ID number
- Employer ID number
As a result of the breach, FBC Glenarden posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the website breach notice, FBC Glenarden is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
