True World is a seafood products company based in New Jersey. Founded in 1976, True World processes and manufactures seafood products and supplies restaurants, hotels, and other food establishments with food products.2 Headquartered in Rockleigh, New Jersey, True World employs over 1,000 individuals.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, True World reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 14, 2025, True World identified unusual activity involving certain systems and servers within one of its datacenters located in Los Angeles.1 As a result, True World launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, True World confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, True World began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:3
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license information
As a result of the breach, True World began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, True World is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
