Cool Wind is a ductwork installation and fabrication company based in New York. Founded in 1974, Cool Wind manufactures and installs sheet metal ductwork for HVAC systems across a variety of spaces, including office buildings, hospitals, laboratories, restaurants, and other commercial applications.2 Headquartered in Glendale, New York, Cool Wind operates a 35,000 sq ft manufacturing facility for producing galvanized, paintlock, stainless-steel, aluminum, and black iron ductwork.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Cool Wind reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about August 29, 2025, Cool Wind detected a network security incident in which an unauthorized third party accessed its network environment.1 As a result, Cool Wind launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Cool Wind confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Cool Wind began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Bank account number
- Routing number
On November 20, 2025, Cool Wind began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Cool Wind is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
