IAPMO is a professional plumbing and mechanical association based in California. Founded in 1926, IAPMO provides a range of services across the plumbing and mechanical industry, including establishing safety codes and standards, offering construction and water treatment product testing and certification, providing workforce training and certification, and more.2,3 Members of IAMPO are also able to vote during code development processes and receive discounts on professional services.4 Headquartered in Ontario, California, IAPMO employs over 300 individuals and has over 4,500 members across 17 countries and all U.S. states.3,5
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, IAPMO reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. In the sample breach notice provided to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, IAPMO does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:6
- Name
- Social Security number
On November 4, 2025, IAPMO began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, IAPMO is providing affected individuals with 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
