Founded in 1961, Patterson-Schwartz offers a full range of services including residential home sales, purchase and rental, relocation services, property management, and home-services.2 Headquartered in Hockessin, Delaware, Patterson-Schwartz employs over 200 individuals and has eleven additional locations in Delaware and Maryland.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Patterson-Schwartz reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about May 14 and May 29, 2025, an unauthorized third parties gained access to two internal Patterson-Schwartz email accounts.1 As a result, Patterson-Schwartz launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Patterson-Schwartz confirmed that sensitive personal information in the emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Patterson-Schwartz began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Email address
- Phone number
- Mailing address
- Date of birth
- Bank account and credit card numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
On November 6, 2025, Patterson-Schwartz began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Patterson-Schwartz is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
