NAHGA Claims Services Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating NAHGA Claims Services (“NAHGA”) regarding its recent data breach. The NAHGA data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT NAHGA CLAIMS SERVICES:

NAHGA is an independently owned and operated third party medical claims administrator based in Maine. Founded in 1991, NAGHA handles medical and accident claims for various insurance companies such as Philadelphia Insurance Companies. Headquartered in Bridgton, Maine, NAHGA employs over 30 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, NAHGA reported to the Attorney General of South Carolina that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 13, 2025, NAHGA became aware of unusual activity involving its network systems.1 As a result, NAHGA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, NAHGA confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between April 8 and April 10, 2025. As a result, NAHGA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by NAHGA. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number or state identification card number issued instead of a driver’s license
  • Financial account number, or credit card or debit card number in combination with any required security code, access code, or password
  • Other numbers or information which may be used to access a person’s financial accounts or numbers or information issued by a governmental or regulatory entity that uniquely will identify an individual

 

As a result of the data breach, NAHGA began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to South Carolina residents, NAHGA is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
