Central Boiler is a privately held manufacturer of outdoor furnaces based in Minnesota. Founded in 1984, Central Boiler offers outdoor furnaces that burn wood, corn, wood pellets, and other biomass fuels, with a dealership network expanding across the United States and Canada, as well as distributors in Russia and Europe.2 Headquartered in Greenbush, Minnesota, Central Boiler employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Central Boiler reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 1, 2025, Central Boiler discovered that it had experienced a sophisticated cyber-attack.1 As a result, Central Boiler launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Central Boiler confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between July 23, 2025, and August 1, 2025. As a result, Central Boiler began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On October 27, 2025, Central Boiler began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Central Boiler is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
