Fleet Landing is a not-for-profit retirement community based in Florida. Founded in 1985, Fleet Landing offers independent and assisted living options to seniors as well as various services and amenities such as formal and casual dining options, fitness center and studios, an outdoor pool and spa, pickle ball, and more.2 Additionally, Fleet Landing provides health services to its residents including skilled nursing and rehabilitation, long term care, outpatient therapy, home health, and physician services.3 Headquartered in Atlantic Beach, Florida, Fleet Landing employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Fleet Landing reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 12, 2024, Fleet Landing discovered suspicious activity on its network.1 As a result, Fleet Landing launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Fleet Landing confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between September 11 and September 12, 2024. As a result, Fleet Landing began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Fleet Landing. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state identification number
- Account number, credit card number or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
- Account passwords or personal identification number or other access codes
On November 4, 2025, Fleet Landing began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Fleet Landing is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
