Greenfield Savings Bank Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Greenfield Savings Bank (“Greenfield”) regarding its recent data breach. The Greenfield data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT GREENFIELD SAVINGS BANK:

Greenfield is a banking company based in Massachusetts. Founded in 1869, Greenfield offers various financial and banking services for individuals and businesses, such as checking and savings accounts, business loans, portfolio management, estate settlement, and trust services.2,3 Headquartered in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Greenfield employs over 50 individuals and operates eight locations across Massachusetts.3,4

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Greenfield reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 14, 2025, Greenfield was notified of a cybersecurity incident experienced by a third-party provider of marketing services.1 As a result, Greenfield launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Greenfield confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Greenfield began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial account information

As a result of the breach, Greenfield began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Greenfield is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services. A link to the breach notification letters that Greenfield filed with the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is below.
