JFS is a wealth management firm based in Pennsylvania. Founded in 1986, JFS offers various services to individuals, business, and institutions, such as financial planning, wealth management, and retirement planning.2 Headquartered in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, JFS employs over 50 individuals and has eight additional locations across Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Florida.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, JFS reported to the Attorney General of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 19, 2025, JFS identified suspicious activity in a corporate email account.1 As a result, JFS launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, JFS confirmed that sensitive personal information in the emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between July 30, 2025, and August 19, 2025. As a result, JFS began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
As a result of the breach, JFS began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, JFS is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
