ABOUT BROADVOICE:
Broadvoice is a cloud-based communication company based in California. Founded in 2005, Broadvoice offers assistance to businesses in relation to communications such as phone systems and texting, as well as customer experiences such as post call AI and call center AI.2 Headquartered in Northridge, California, Broadvoice employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Broadvoice reported to the Attorney General of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 11, 2025, Broadvoice received a phishing email impersonating a trusted source which was sent from a fraudulent email address to one of its employees.1 In response, the employee inadvertently provided copies of 2024 W-2 forms to the fraudulent email address.1 As a result, Broadvoice launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Broadvoice confirmed that sensitive personal information in the emails may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Broadvoice began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Wage or income information
As a result of the breach, Broadvoice began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Broadvoice is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 36 months of complimentary credit monitoring services. A link to the breach notification letters that Broadvoice filed with the Attorney General of Massachusetts is below.
