Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Safety Net Works Inc., which does business as MVD Express OS LLC (“MVD Express”) regarding its recent data breach. The MVD Express data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 1,800 individuals.

MVD Express is an automotive consumer services company based in New Mexico. Founded in 1994, MVD Express provides licenses/Real ID, titles, registrations, call center support and dealer services to over 300,000 customers annually through its retail, commercial and support divisions.2 Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, MVD Express employs over 50 individuals and has additional locations in Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and Gallup, New Mexico.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, MVD Express reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or around January 28, 2025, MVD Express discovered that threat actors got unauthorized access to its employee’s email account, and used it to send spam emails to clients.1 As a result, MVD Express launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, MVD Express confirmed that sensitive personal information in the emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, MVD Express began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Full or partial Social Security number
- Address
- Driver’s license information
- Passport numbers
- Additional identifying information
On September 30, 2025, MVD Express began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, MVD Express is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
