WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, GITSIT reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on November 15, 2024, GITSIT was alerted to suspicious activity in its environment.1 As a result, GITSIT launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, GITSIT confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party between November 14 and November 15, 2024.1 As a result, GITSIT began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 10, 2025, GITSIT completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes: 5
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information (account number, credit or debit card number)
On September 17, 2025, GITSIT began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to California residents, GITSIT is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. 1 A link to the letters that GITSIT filed with the Attorney General of California is below.
