Founded in 1892, Phoenix designs and manufactures high-powered lighting products for a range of industries, including industrial sites, ports and terminals, mining operations, maritime, aviation, and government applications.2,3 Products that Phoenix offers include lights for loading docks, hazardous locations, navigation, and DC equipment, as well as vapor- and explosion-proof lights.2 Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Phoenix employs over 50 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Phoenix reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on July 31, 2025, Phoenix discovered they were impacted by a ransomware attack.1 As a result, Phoenix launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Phoenix confirmed that the sensitive personal information of employees in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Phoenix began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On September 12, Phoenix began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to Massachusetts residents, Phoenix is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
