Radiology Associates Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Pacific Imaging Management, LLC, which does business as Radiology Associates of San Luis Obispo (“Radiology Associates”) regarding its recent data breach. The Radiology Associates data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Radiology Associates is a medical diagnostic imaging company based in California.3 Founded in 1959, Radiology Associates provides a range of diagnostic imaging services for health needs, including mammography, bone density screening, cardiac imaging, MRI, CT scans, ultrasound, etc.3,4 Headquartered in Atascadero, California, Radiology Associates employs over 50 individuals and provides services out of imaging centers in both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.3

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Radiology Associates reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its email environment may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, March 13, 2025, Radiology Associates became aware of unusual activity in certain employee email accounts.1 As a result, Radiology Associates launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Radiology Associates confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between February 3 and March 17, 2025.1 As a result, Radiology Associates began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. As of September 11, 2025, the type of information impacted in the breach has not been made publicly available by Radiology Associates.¹ However, according to California state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Driver’s license number, passport number, or state identification card number
  • Bank account number or credit/debit card number or any other financial information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
  • Insurance policy number
  • Education, employment, or employment history
  • Physical characteristics or description
  • Signature

 

On September 10, 2025, Radiology Associates began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to California residents, Radiology Associates is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. 1 A link to breach notification letters that Radiology Associates filed with the Attorney General of California is below.
