Pediatric Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists Data Breach Investigation

Pediatric ENT Specialists is a pediatrics organization based in Florida.2 Founded in 1989, Pediatric ENT Specialists specializes exclusively in ear, nose and throat problems in children and adolescents. Specialty areas of surgery for Pediatrics ENT Specialists include tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, cochlear implants, airway reconstruction, etc.2 Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Pediatric ENT Specialists employs over 10 individuals and offers care across six locations in Florida.1,2

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Pediatric ENT Specialists experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice previously available on the Pediatric ENT Specialists website, on February 24, 2025, Pediatric ENT Specialists discovered unusual activity on its network. As a result, Pediatric ENT Specialists launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Pediatric ENT Specialists confirmed that the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between February 19 and February 24, 2025. As a result, Pediatric ENT Specialists began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or State ID number
  • Financial account information
  • Taxpayer ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (medical diagnosis/treatment information, prescription information, date of service, patient ID number, provider name)
  • Medica record number
  • Medicare/Medicaid number
  • Health insurance information (health insurance claim number, health insurance policy number, treatment cost information)

 

On April 25, 2025, Pediatric ENT Specialists posted notice of the data breach on its website. Additionally, Pediatric ENT Specialists filed an official notice of the data with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights on August 18, 2025.3 Based on the website breach notice, Pediatric ENT Specialists is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
