WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, MAB reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, MAB discovered a cyberattack that impacted its systems.1 As a result, MAB launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, in July 2025, MAB confirmed that the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party on January 17, 2025.1 As a result, MAB began to contact the individuals who may have been impacted. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes: 2
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Medical treatment information
- Health insurance information
- Financial account information
On September 5, 2025, MAB began mailing affected individuals. Additionally, MAB posted notice of the breach to their website. Based on the breach notice being sent to Maine residents, MAB is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. 1 A link to breach notification letters that MAB filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
