WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, GHMA reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about February 20, 2025, GHMA learned that personal information of certain individuals was accessed without authorization.1 As a result, GHMA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, GHMA confirmed that sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party on November 1, 2024.1 As a result, GHMA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The review concluded on June 25, 2025.1 While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
On July 24, 2025, GHMA began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, GHMA is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the form breach notification letters that GHMA filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
