Founded in 1997 under its original name of Tarrant County Infectious Disease Associates, TCIDA provides Infectious disease consulting services and infusion pharmacy throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.3,4 Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, TCIDA has an additional location in Dallas, Texas, and employs over 20 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, TCIDA announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on July 19, 2024, TCIDA learned of unusual activity in its network.1 As a result, TCIDA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, TCIDA determined that an unauthorized individual may have accessed or acquired certain files and data stored within its systems as the result of an incident experienced by TCIDA’s former third-party billing vendor.1 As a result, TCIDA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Medical information (medical record number, Medicare/Medicaid number, health insurance number, medical or treatment information)
As a result of the data breach, TCIDA posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on June 26, 2025, TCIDA began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals.1 Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, TCIDA is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.2 A link to the form breach notification letters that TCIDA filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
