WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Resource Energy reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised.1 According to the breach notice, May 16, 2025, Resource Energy found unusual activity in its cloud-based file storage platform.1 As a result, Resource Energy launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Resource Energy confirmed that an unauthorized individual acquired certain information stored on Resource Energy’s file storage platform between May 16 and May 17, 2025. As a result, Resource Energy began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s License number
- Address
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Financial account number
- Health information
- Health insurance information
- Username, password, or security questions
As a result of the data breach, on June 16, 2025, Resource Energy began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice, Resource Energy is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
