Founded in 2004, MLP aims to serve and educate clients with the necessary tools to achieve their business and personal financial objectives.3, Headquartered in San Jose, California, MLP serves clients across the Bay Area as well as a wide variety of clients nationwide.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 17, 2025, MLP reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 15, 2024, IT staff for MLP identified suspicious activity within the firm’s network.1 As a result, MLP launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident. The investigation was completed on November 26, 2024.1
Through its investigation, MLP confirmed that files containing sensitive personal information in its systems belonging to MLP clients may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between September 10, 2024 and September 17, 2024.1 As a result, MLP reviewed the files in the folders that may have been involved and determined that a file contained sensitive information of two New Hampshire residents. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On April 30, 2025, MLP began mailing data breach notification letters to the impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, MLP is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and one-year of complimentary credit monitoring services.
