WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, JCCA announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 1, 2025, JCCA became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network.1 As a result, JCCA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, JCCA confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and copied by an unauthorized third party between July 21 and August 1, 2024.1 As a result, JCCA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Contact information
- Driver’s license/state identification number
- Financial account information
- Medical information (e.g., patient identification number, medical record numbers, diagnosis and treatment information)
- Health insurance information
As a result of the data breach, JCCA posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on June 2, 2025, JCCA began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, JCCA is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
